Casela Nature Park |
For a family recreational trip a short distance away from Tamarina Estate, Casela Nature Park is a must.
Opened in December 1979 and renovated five years ago, Casela extends over an area of 14 hectares and hosts more than a thousand birds of 150 different species in aviaries as well as many other animals like the Mauritian Macaque, tigers, lemurs, ostriches and giant tortoises, and recently a pride of young lions.
A favourite stopover for families with young kids is the small petting farm where children are allowed to feed some animals. You may be surprised to find there such uncommon animals as emus or wallabies cohabiting with the local deer and wild boars...
Casela Leisure Park also provides for tilapia fishing for kids, with a qualified staff to take care of the children, and a varied and exciting playground.
More exciting activities are available in the Yemen Park (4500 hectares) such as a 30 minute safari inside a 100 hectare park to observe zebras and African antelopes or a two-hour tour around the entire estate. Extraordinary panoramic views of this breathtaking part of the island are part of the park's appeal.
Looking for more thrilling adventures? Then try quad/mountain biking or Via Ferrata climbing at the Casela Yemen Nature Escapade.
Casela Leisure Park is open everyday from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (May-September) and from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (October-April). It is closed on December 25th and January 1st.
